Filtered DV List of Titles Released by Studio
Work in progress - information regarding which titles use MEL (10-bit minimal enhancement layer), or FEL (12-bit full enhancement layer) will now be added next to the release year. What the heck exactly are mel and fel? Here's a post that gathers up a lot of nice info - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...8#post16884278 Thanks to some nice input from Geoff as well as forum member Rice - [Show spoiler] we've been able to identify the layers containing a flat bitrate of ~2Mbps or less usually equates to MEL and those with a higher variable bitrate >2Mbps=FEL. Screencaps of Fifth Element's MEL (Studio Canal 0.09 Mb/s) and Forrest Gump's FEL (7.44 Mb/s) - [Show spoiler] Here we have more confirmation the layers hovering around ~2Mbps are MEL - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...8#post16793408 Updated info regarding ~2Mb/s layers; BDInfo is incorrectly flagging it as FEL: [Show spoiler] #

Very good news, but I wouldn't get too excited if you think Dolby Vision is going to blow away the HDR10 layer. DV will look better on TVs on the lower end (those that have HDR 'lite') and TVs that haven't been made yet. Those in between (the HDR10 TVs that meet UHD Premium specs) it should look very similar. But for discs it's very good news because eventually we'll upgrade the TVs and then we will notice any improvement (assuming the discs are encoded with dynamic range and color gamut beyond what HDR10 is capable of, which probably won't be the case most times anyway).

I wish Wild would come with a better release in the future with a 100 GB disc. The current release sucks so much.

Why do you think Deadpool will be the first Dolby Vision UHD BD?

Silly question, do we need a Dolby Vision UHD BD to play these discs in Dolby Vision?
I understand the TV part. I know that is required. |

The Dolby Vision base layer on the diagram is SDR. For UHD Blu-ray, the Dolby Vision base layer must be HDR10. |

I don't understand Chinese. I'm wondering if the image below shows the first Dolby Vision UHD BDs.
This image is taken at the Skyworth S9-I OLED TV web page. http://shop.skyworth.com/goods/get_1157.html? http://shop.skyworth.com/goods/get_1156.html? The Skyworth S9-I TV was launched recently in China: . 55S9-I: Y17000 (i.e., $2500) . 65S9-I: Y30000 (i.e., $4500) They are compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10. https://translate.google.com/transla...183341080.html |

I doubt it will be in a separate layer (unless you are using the term differently)
